Kindling ensemble

"Kindling" ensemble brings together American percussionist and marimba player Sky Pearson and Swiss violinist Mike Perroud, united by a shared ambition: to explore a varied repertoire and combine timbres of two instruments from contrasting periods in music history.

This fusion brings a fresh artistic twist and calls for the adaptation of works originally composed for guitar or piano and violin, as well as reductions of orchestral scores, thus creating something that is distinctly marimba, with its resonant and warm wood timbres while mixing well with the violin’s embrace.

Anchored in classical tradition, the duo broadens its scope by incorporating works with folkloric and contemporary influences to offer a richer musical experience to the audience.
